Even with the NFL taking a week off before the Super Bowl, there are still plenty of opportunities to find some great mascot action this weekend on TV. Here are a few places to hunt for mascots:
1. The Pro Bowl - ESPN Sunday 6:00 PM
The Pro Bowl is usually a great place to hunt for mascots on TV. Most teams send a mascot to the game and the mascots can be seen on the sidelines interacting with each other. The football may be terrible but the mascots should be entertaining.
2. Youngstown State at Cleveland State ESPN Saturday 3:00 PM
This basketball game is at Cleveland State but Mascot Blog is hopeful that Pete and Penny, the mascots for Youngstown State, make the trip. These are two of the better mascots in all of college sports but opportunities are few and far between to catch them on tv. No word on if the large inflatable Army man will be there.
3. Detroit Red Wings at Pittsburgh Penguins NBC Sunday 11:30 AM
If you do not get you penguins fix satisfied on Saturday you certainly will Sunday during the Red Wings versus Penguins matchup. Iceburgh, the official mascot of the Penguins, may be familiar to some of the readers. He played a prominent role in the 1995 film "Sudden Death," in which the costume was worn by one of the villians. Look for Iceburgh on the ice between periods of Sunday's game.
If you see any great mascot behavior either on TV or in person please leave a note. I will be attending the Lancers game on Friday with loyal reader, Chopper, so I am sure we will be entertained by the Chicken. Have a great weekend!
Can we get a live blog of that Youngstown State game?
ReplyDeleteNBA TV. Friday, January 29th at 7:35pm. Boston Celtics vs. Atlanta Hawks. Jamal Crawford is having quite a game and the Hawks mascot is really feeding off of the craziness. He's pretty exciting. Can we get any info on this mascot?
